Well, I finished a ride this morning (in spite of not feeling it at ALL, I think I let myself get dehydrated) and passed the 500 mile marker on my 1,000 mile challenge that I set for myself on 8/19/2008. By my math, that means I've managed to average more than 17 miles a day during the past month, which I don't think is too shabby. In fact, with the month I've had (including the 75 mile ride with my dad), apparently I meet their minimum requirements for TOSRV (which is crazy, there's no way I'm in shape to do that).
So I'm back to trying to talk myself out of the second half of my goal. Originally, the 1,000 mile goal was an end-of-year target and at this point I don't think I'd have any trouble doing it over the next 3 months... so I think I'm going to start test-riding bikes. Who knows? I may find I get to the 1,000 mile mark before I find the biking love of my life, but if I find that special bike first, I'm going to go ahead and buy it, methinks. Or not... I may change my mind again.
